Old Lazy Dog brings a different view of faith, life, and the struggles we face in the marketplace and our day to day lives…while we strive to go deeper in our faith walk, put our faith to work, and see God at work around us on a daily basis.

Relentless

Relentless

A Relentless 2.jpg

“Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” - Romans 12:1-12 NIV

As I have shared before, 9 years ago I started and coach a girl’s spring/summer travel basketball program - The Tallahassee Storm

Each year, we do a team T-shirt to commemorate the year. The shirt from 4 or 5 years ago had one word on the front that best described the way our girls played - Relentless. Though we didn’t always win, we were relentless in our effort. We relentlessly competed.

Relentless ~ continuing without becoming weaker, less severe, etc.: Remaining strict or determined:  showing or promising no abatement of severity, intensity, strength, or pace : unrelenting <relentless pressure> <a relentless campaign>

However, more importantly, the back of the shirt better explained the word choice... the deeper meaning, if you would:

Storm Creed

Relentlessly striving to glorify God through:

  • How hard we play
  • How well we do
  • And how much fun we have doing it

I wonder what might happen if we as individuals took up this creed in our day to day activities.... in our work... in our family life... in our faith life?

Relentlessly striving to glorify God through all that we do:

  • How hard we play (pray, work, love)
  • How well we do (compete, study, work, live, love, walk as Jesus walked)
  • How much fun we have doing it (letting our joy shine on the world around us)

I wonder what life might be like if we lived RELENTLESS?

Keep the Faith... Carpe Diem
