Summertime
It’s summertime. The time many people travel on family vacations or take a personal time of rest.
Many will take solace in a beachside retreat. Finding peace as they look out over the ocean horizon and walk the calming sands, waves lapping at their feet, cool breeze in their hair. Others will take to a boat and explore the ocean depths or the rivers edge. Fishing, swimming, diving.
Still others will find refreshment in the mountain heights. Finding cold springs and mountain falls. Sliding down a rocky slide into a cold mountain pool. Feeling near God in His nature and in His mountain views.
On this summertime Thursday, let’s praise Jesus for who He is and what He has done. Let’s praise Him for His creation, for His great imagination. Praise Him for His beaches and ocean shores. Praise Him for His mountains, His streams, His valleys.
Come let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker, for he is our God.
“Come, let us sing to the Lord!
Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come to him with thanksgiving.
Let us sing psalms of praise to him.
For the Lord is a great God,
a great King above all gods.
He holds in his hands the depths of the earth
and the mightiest mountains.
The sea belongs to him, for he made it.
His hands formed the dry land, too.
Come, let us worship and bow down.
Let us kneel before the Lord our maker,
for he is our God.
We are the people he watches over,
the flock under his care.” - Psalm 95:1-7 NLT
