New Year Contemplations

Our Lord and God, You are worthy to receive glory and honor and power, because You have created all things, and because of Your will they exist and were created. - Revelation 4:11 HCSB

As the infamous 2020 comes to a close and we contemplate all that it has encompassed - the hope, the joy, the loss, and the pain - I find myself dwelling on some deeper questions. Questions like this one that can seep into the inner recesses of your mind...

Why are we here... on this earth, in this place, at this time?

We are here to know and glorify God and bring forth spiritual fruit.

We were created to bring glory to God.

We were created to honor God.

We were created to bring pleasure to God.

We were created to worship and praise God.

We are here to be a light in a dark world and shine so that others might know God.

As we begin to make resolutions, commitments and vows for the new year, what if we resolve to do just that?

Perhaps we are here for such a time as this?

“If you keep silent at this time, liberation and deliverance will come to the Jewish people from another place, but you and your father’s house will be destroyed. Who knows, perhaps you have come to your royal position for such a time as this.” - Esther 4:14 HCSB
