Nary a Breeze
“Heavens, sprinkle from above,
and let the skies shower righteousness.
Let the earth open up
so that salvation will sprout
and righteousness will spring up with it.
I, Yahweh, have created it.”
- Isaiah 45:8 HCSB
A back porch view of a hummingbird flying on nary a breeze...
Dancing to and fro
Seeking sweet nectar from rose to rose
just as rain comes pouring down.
Leaves on the trees in the woods behind sounding like applause from a crowd of thousands.
Calming the soul and the mind.
Refreshing and renewing rain falling on the hearts of His people,
The Spirit falling to the resounding applause of the thousands
As nary a breeze whispers to the rain drenched leaves.
Nary a breeze blowing as God breathes
into these dry bones.
Nary a breeze blowing as He rains
down upon me.
O Lord,
Rain on this land
Revive this place
Heal this heart
With love and grace
Like wings of a hummingbird
Fluttering in the breeze
Breathe new life within me.
The leaf-led applause
Once echoing in the rain
Now strangely silent in the surrounding wood.
Replaced by the song of birds in the trees
Singing praises to the One
Who brought the quenching rain on nary a breeze.
Nary a breeze blowing as God breathes into these dry bones.
Nary a breeze blowing as He rains down upon me.
