Old Lazy Dog brings a different view of faith, life, and the struggles we face in the marketplace and our day to day lives…while we strive to go deeper in our faith walk, put our faith to work, and see God at work around us on a daily basis.

The Mission

The Mission

“Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

“Sir,” they said, “always give us this bread.”

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.” - John 6:32-40 NIV

The mission lead lays out the plans to his fighter pilots. “At 1900 hours, we will fly out over the city and turn on all their land to air silos and sites and cause their pilots to scramble. As we veer off away from the city, the tomahawks and the stealths will lock in on the sites. From their our job will be to protect the skies from the fighters and protect AWAX. Any questions?”

The Head Coach lays out the game plan to his players. “This is why we are here. This is what we will do. We’ve practiced and prepared. Over and above that, we will stop number 22. We know his tendencies. We know what he likes to do. Be there and be prepared. Know what to do in these situations. Let’s go and get it done.”

Jesus lays it all out here in saying that He is the bread of life, in that whoever comes to Him will never be hungry and whoever believes in Him will never be thirsty.

Then He declares His mission, “All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”

Ultimately, His mission should be our mission: Doing God’s will and leading guiding, directing, bringing people to the Father through a relationship with Jesus. Doing the Father’s will over and above our own. Making our will that of the Father’s.

A big task... a big mission. A higher calling... a higher focus. A big faith.

Keep the Faith... Carpe Diem
