Old Lazy Dog brings a different view of faith, life, and the struggles we face in the marketplace and our day to day lives…while we strive to go deeper in our faith walk, put our faith to work, and see God at work around us on a daily basis.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” - Matthew 11:28-29 NIV

“You need to put it in gear.... we’re going to be late!”

Go, go, go. Run, run, run. Fast, fast, fast.

Pick up the pace. Let’s go. Let’s go.

This has seemed to be the language of the day at our house for the past 15 or 16 years. Everything is a rush to be here, there and everywhere.

Go, go, go. Run, run, run. Fast, fast, fast.

Crazy

And with all the rushing and running around. With all the time constraints and timetables, the stress and frustration build. Yet, the craziness and the pace continue on causing those feelings of tiredness, weariness, a need for some good rest with seemingly no time to fit it in.

Yet this morning in Matthew 11, Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Yes, we still have all those things to do and all those places to be. But the reminder grabs by attention saying, “Take a deep breath and remember Me. Don’t forget to put Me first. Hand over your stresses and frustration, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and find rest for your soul.”

Yes, even through the pandemic, we all still have all this to do in all these different directions at all these different times. But if we take the time to remember what is eternal and what is circumstantial, and focus on the eternal. Then, perspective comes. Peace fills.

Yes, we still have projects due and tests to take. Yes, we still have to prepare and plan. But, if we keep Christ first and foremost, His peace transcends all the frustrations, stresses and disappointments.

I love this promise from Jesus as the craziness of life tries to take over...

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Keep the Faith... Carpe Diem
