“He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.”
– Deuteronomy 8:3 NIV

“… He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD” – Deuteronomy 8:3b NLT

Over the past few months, I have been contemplating God’s will and wondering what that means/what that might look like for me and my family.

Though we may not verbally ask it every day or all the time, it does tend to be a question that we all ask… that we at least wonder about from time to time…

But at the same time, we’re not really sure that we really want to know… for fear that we might find out… for fear that His will might be that He wants us to go to the dry lands of Africa… or India… or China… or the rainforests of South and Central America… or some other place that we really don’t want to go, much less raise a family…

Forgetting that if we are truly seeking Jesus and His heart… If our heart is truly becoming more and more like His, then our heart… our will… becomes more like His… and thus, our heart will change and want to go where He wants us to go… be what it is He wants us to be… Do what He wants us to do.

That being said… and even though it is sometimes fearful for us to ask… deep down we probably do want to know - What is God’s will for our lives?

It might surprise you what the Bible says about it…

God’s Will
(… and this is only 10 of far more that the Bible says)

1. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength
2. Love your neighbor as yourself
3. Flee evil
4. Be joyful & give thanks in all circumstances
5. Praise Him & Worship Him
6. Dwell on all that is good and pure and true
7. Go therefore and make disciples
8. Daily put on the full armor of God
9. Daily take up your cross and follow Him
10. Pray continually

You see, God’s will is far more than our careers… or what city we will live in… or what college we will attend... or what we will be and do next… and is more concerned with Him and us seeking Him and finding Him… as we rely on Him and strive to live for Him… That’s where His will becomes more and more evident… and that’s where our hearts belong… to Him, with Him, in a growing relationship wit h Him

Keep the Faith… Carpe Diem

“Relying on God has to begin all over again everyday as if nothing yet had been done.” – C. S. Lewis
