Called?
Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,and before you were born I consecrated you;I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.”
But the Lord said to me,
“Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go,and whatever I command you, you shall speak.
Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord.”
Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me,
“Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.
See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms,to pluck up and to break down,to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.” ` Jeremiah 1:4-10 ESV
Now, the calling of the Lord on our life may be nothing like that of Jeremiah. It may not be anywhere as dramatic and life changing of that of Saul/Paul, nor as instantaneous as that of the Disciples.
It may not necessarily be a calling to full time paid ministry… or to be a pastor… or to living and working on the mission field in a foreign country (though it could be any of those things). But believe me, we are called.
We are called to...
... Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength
... Love Your neighbor as yourself
... Take up your cross and follow Him
... Go therefore and make disciples, teaching and baptizing them
... Love as you have been loved
... Forgive as you have been forgiven
... Do the work of Him who has sent you as long as it is day. For night is coming when no one can work
Before He formed us, He knew us in the womb. He has had a hand in our life, before we even knew Him. He had led and guided before we even knew to ask. His grace has been given, even before we knew we needed it.
Of course He has called us...
As one called by the Most High, let’s put our faith into action and become a world changer.
As one called, let us go therefore and make a difference... and make disciples.
As one called, let’s live in such a way that the world around us will see and know.
Called? Of course we are...
