Where's the Beef?
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 4:6-7 NIV
Back when I was growing up, Wendy’s, the fast food restaurant, ran TV commercials that featured a little old lady that said three words that became their catch phrase at the time. She would be visiting another fast food restaurant, look at a small hamburger patty that sat on a larger hamburger bun and would look up and say ~ “Where’s the Beef?"

Thinking and even laughing at that old “Where’s the Beef?” question for some reason leads me to ask a new question, “Where’s the Peace?”
I don’t necessarily mean peace on earth, though that really is part of it. But what I’m talking about is more like:
All the whining, moaning, groaning and selfishness we sometimes deal with family at home.
All the drama and fires that we deal with and put out at work.
All the traffic snarls and tie ups we deal with on the way to work and on the way home.
All the concerns we have about money - where it is and where it goes.
All the political drama or politically correct drama of the moment that we see and read about on any number of news outlets about any subject or issue or tweet.
And so on and so forth... whatever else is out there that causes a disruption to the peace we so desperately long for.
So, I’ll ask again... Where’s the Peace?
Peace, true peace, is found in and through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Peace stems from prayer, from conversations with God. Now prayer doesn’t always stop the drama or the traffic, or the junk in life, but it does give us peace in the storm and hope in the midst of the flames.
It’s through that relationship and through those prayers that we find ourselves at peace when the rest of the world is in a funk. That doesn’t mean that we won’t have a sense of urgency at times and that we won’t show our displeasure over a certain situation. But we will have peace. Peace beyond understanding.
Peace in the fires and storms of life... and peace in the normal day to day.

He’s the peace.
