Labor Day Perspective

Today is the Labor Day holiday in the U.S., where we celebrate the laborer and the essential role they play in our society. As Martin Luther King once said, “All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence."

That is, we are to glorify God in what we do and how well we do it.

All that being said, what if we take a moment and change our perspective a bit, and try to look at the holiday a little differently... changing our focus from our laboring to our Provider?

What if we took a moment to praise God for His provision?
What if we stop, take a breath and praise Him for how He always seems to give us exactly what we need, right when we need it?

What if we praise Him for His grace and forgiveness?
Praise Him for love and hope?
What if we praise Him for how He is Immanuel, God with us... for there is no place we can go where He is not?

What if we praise and worship the one who never fails to make good on His promises in His timing?
What if we praise and worship the one who is always at work, ordering the steps of His people, even when we can’t see it?

What if we take a moment and praise Him, thank Him, worship Him?

For He is good and worthy of our praise!

“You have searched me, Lord,
and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.

Before a word is on my tongue
you, Lord, know it completely.
