Lessons from a Road Trip

Lessons from a Road Trip

Through out most any career, there are many long stretches of days and weeks that tend to be filled with meetings and conferences, and meeting lots of people. In those moments, Psalm 146 should serve as a great reminder for in whom our confidence should be....

Not in powerful people (or those who think they are powerful). No, our confidence (mine and yours) should be in the Lord, whose power does not fade, whose plans do not die, whose focus is on even the most minute of details.

Our confidence is in the One who Leads from on High.
No compromise.
No disclaimer.

Praise the Lord.

A number of years ago, I attended a conference where some Wood Turners from across the country and around the world were staying in my same hotel. They are rich and poor, working and retired, man and woman. All with a passion for Wood Turning.

Each one that I met had similar, yet different stories about their lathe and how they had become addicted to the woodwork. Some making bowls and vases, some learning to make true spheres and wooden balls, and some focused on the most minute details as they make tiny ornamental eggs, and Christmas ornaments. Hand made, carved and crafted. Each one a creation of their own.

Today, let’s Praise the Lord, who reigns forever. Praise the One who is the Most High, the One who is the Great Creator whose attention is on even the most minute of detail.

Praise the Lord for He is good and His love endures forever.

"Praise the Lord!
Let all that I am praise the Lord.
I will praise the Lord as long as I live.
I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath.
Don’t put your confidence in powerful people;
there is no help for you there.
When they breathe their last, they return to the earth,
and all their plans die with them.
But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the Lord their God.
He made heaven and earth,
the sea, and everything in them.
He keeps every promise forever.
He gives justice to the oppressed
and food to the hungry. The Lord frees the prisoners.
The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down.
The Lord loves the godly.
The Lord protects the foreigners among us.
He cares for the orphans and widows,
but he frustrates the plans of the wicked.
The Lord will reign forever.
He will be your God, O Jerusalem, throughout the generations.
Praise the Lord!" ~ Psalm 146 NLT
