Old Lazy Dog brings a different view of faith, life, and the struggles we face in the marketplace and our day to day lives…while we strive to go deeper in our faith walk, put our faith to work, and see God at work around us on a daily basis.

15 Seconds or Less

15 Seconds or Less

“Each heart knows its own bitterness,
and no one else can share its joy.”
- Proverbs 14:10 NIV

In 15 seconds or less... a boss can walk into an office, deliver a “we’re going to make a change” message, walk out with no explanation and change an employees life forever.

In 8 seconds... a championship bull rider can win a title.

In less than a second... an NCAA Championship, an Olympic medal, a Kentucky Derby, a Nascar Title can be won or lost.

In the blink of an eye... Life ends... Life begins... Life changes

There are really so many directions that today’s devotion can go - Sense of Urgency/Time Being of the Essence, Joy/Bitterness, Worry/Hope.

None of us know how much time we have on this earth. Just like none of us know the day or time of Jesus’ return. So, why do we waste so much time with anger and bitterness... or dwelling on past disappointments and pain... and why do we worry as much as we do?

What are we doing with the time that we have?

Are we living a joy-filled life with a heart and a sense of urgency for the lost and the hurting?

Are we feeding the hungry?
Giving water to the thirsty?
Healing the sick?
Clothing the unclothed?
Giving hope to the hopeless?

Are we holding grudges... or showing grace?

Are we celebrating victories and sharing tears with the defeated?

And what about that bitterness?
Have we allowed others to steal our joy?
How long we will we harbor that anger and bitterness?

How much time will we waste?

Truth is, just like I might tell my children, God is telling us to stop wasting so much time on things that don’t really matter... And put our time, our hearts and our minds into things that matter most - bringing Him glory and bringing people to Him... reminding us that “we must do the work of Him who has sent us while it is still day. Night is coming when no one can work” (John 9:4)

In 15 seconds or less... we can make a difference... and change a life forever.

Keep the Faith... Carpe Diem

“There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.”
- Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 NIV
