Old Lazy Dog brings a different view of faith, life, and the struggles we face in the marketplace and our day to day lives…while we strive to go deeper in our faith walk, put our faith to work, and see God at work around us on a daily basis.

Oil Change

Oil Change

“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”
- 1 John 4:10 NIV

I made time for an oil change the other day.

Now, I must admit that I was a bit past due. Maybe even more than a bit past due. So, I finally made the time.

And when I did it, I found that there were also some other things that needed attention: Belts, Fluids, Filters, etc. Some were classic up-sell items. Some were true issues. Issues that needed my attention.

So, I did what most of us would do. Took care of the issues that were the most immediate issues and put off those that were not so immediate until a later date.

In hopes, that there would be a later date.

Isn't that just like us. Taking care of the immediate need(s) and postponing or otherwise putting off those things that we can live with or deal with?

All too often that’s us, or at least me, in my faith journey as well.

We can ultimately hand over to God the smaller things, the easy things to let go of and let God handle them.
But what about those deep rooted things?
What about those things in life that we don’t want anyone else to see or no about?
What about those things just under the surface?
When do we hand those off?
When do they get to be too much to handle on our own and too big to be put-off any longer?

And what about those “big issues” in life that we continue to handle on our own?
When will we wake up and realize that we cant do it on our own?

With my car, it’s just a matter of time before I have to look at the big things, before I have to handle the things that I have put off looking at, thinking about or paying to have fixed.

Life and our faith walk are much the same.

Jesus is not only Savior… He is also Lord. And that’s Lord over everything - even all my junk.

When will we heed the warning lights and get our hearts serviced?

Keep the Faith… Carpe Diem
