Dogs Rule!
As we continue to celebrate the 27th Anniversary of the Old Lazy Dog Blog, today's devotion is another one of my favorites from years gone by. Keep the Faith - Marty
"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men." – Matthew 4:19 NIV
"Yes, Lord," she said, "but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table."
– Matthew 15:27 NIV
While I was at the gym the other day, a lady walked my elliptical machine and the slogan on her shirt caught my eye:
“Dogs Rule!”
After commenting that I liked her shirt, I found that she got it from Pedigree Dog Food Company and evidently there is a Dogs Rule!website.
As she and her group walked into a meeting, I began to think about the message on the shirt and the first thing that came to mind was… “Not Yet.”
It just depends on your definition of DOG.
Don’t get me wrong – I don’t believe that dogs as the world defines them will ever “RULE.” However, what if we change the definition a bit? What if we define DOG like this?
D – Disciples
O – Of
G - God
Different perspective now, isn’t it?
Under this definition Dogs still don’t necessarily RULE… but as Disciples, we know and follow the One who does… The Master
And we’ll see it first hand when Christ returns… like a good dog laying at His feet… and worshiping.
Keep the Faith… Carpe Diem
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
– Revelation 21:1-4 NIV
