Old Lazy Dog brings a different view of faith, life, and the struggles we face in the marketplace and our day to day lives…while we strive to go deeper in our faith walk, put our faith to work, and see God at work around us on a daily basis.

Real

Real

“Thomas said to him, ‘Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?’

Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.’”
- John 15:5-7 NIV

I read this the other day and wanted to share. It’s a snippet from writer and attorney Lee Strobel sharing how Jesus became real for him.

"I didn't become a Christian because God promised I would have an even happier life than I had as an atheist. He never promised any such thing. Indeed, following him would inevitably bring divine demotions in the eyes of the world.

Rather, I became a Christian because the evidence was so compelling that Jesus really is the one-and-only Son of God who proved his divinity by rising from the dead. That meant following him was the most rational and logical step I could possibly take."
~ Lee Strobel

For me, it was a bit different.

In a coach’s office at the University of Southern Mississippi.

A moment in time when I came to the realization that Jesus was real and wanted a relationship with me, and I needed a relationship with Him

For some, it’s a logical understanding that Jesus is who He said He is.

For others, it’s a moment in time when there is a realization that we cannot control life and death and the things that happen in this world...
That we’re helpless in the fight with what we can’t understand or that we can’t control...
That there has got to be more to this life than this life…
Then ultimately realizing that Jesus can be and is the answer we’re searching for.

And for others still, it’s an unexplainable drawing to Him and a clarity that Jesus is the Son of God, and gives hope and grace and forgiveness through what He endured on the cross.

Everyone’s story is different.

For all it’s a realization that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, and came to live and die and live again so that we might have life, everlasting life and live it abundantly.

Trust Jesus.

He is who says He is.
He did what He said He would do.
And will one day return, like He said He would.

Jesus is real.

As real as day turning to night... and night back to day.

Keep the Faith... Carpe Diem
