Old Lazy Dog brings a different view of faith, life, and the struggles we face in the marketplace and our day to day lives…while we strive to go deeper in our faith walk, put our faith to work, and see God at work around us on a daily basis.

Morning

As we celebrate the 27th Anniversary of the Old Lazy Dog Blog, today's Devotion is one of my favorites from years gone by. Keep the Faith - Marty

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions (or mercies) never fail.
They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him.”
The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him,
to the one who seeks him;
it is good to wait quietly
for the salvation of the Lord.”
- Lamentations 3:22-26 NIV

Ginger the Dog and I had a morning ritual. I would get up and eat breakfast while she waited patiently in her bed. Then, as soon I was done, I would walk over to the back door, unlock it and stand. Ginger the Dog would then rise and walk until she was between my legs, then I’d bend over and hug her around her shoulders and rub her belly (what dog doesn’t like that?)

As I would give Ginger her morning hugs, her tail would start wagging and a doggy smile would seem to break out on her face. And as we began to break the hug to head outside, she’d give me a few cheek kisses and we were on our way to face the day.

It was always the same most every day. Yet somehow the smile and the dog hug were new every morning.

Those moments reminding me of God’s steadfast love and how He consistently greets me new every morning.

This morning, let’s praise Him for His steadfast, limitless, compassionate love. Praise Him for how His love and compassion are new (and yet, like Ginger the Dog, consistently the same) every morning.

Keep the Faith... Carpe Diem
