In God We Trust

In God We Trust

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.” - Psalm 91:1-2 NIV

I know the battle wages on to keep “In God We Trust” on American coins and currency. That being said, this is not a discourse nor part of the battle to keep those four words on my/our money. Nor is it a political commentary on the closing moments of the recent opening Congressional prayer.

Though I want “In God We Trust” to remain engrained in my country and currency, and I will make my voice heard and vote count should it come to that, this is not meant to start a heated discussion nor meant to become a war on words.

No, this is simply a reminder of in whom we should trust... a reminder of who God is.

In moments of fear, or nervousness, or facing the unknown.. or in the normal day to day for that matter, my children and my wife feel most at ease, most comfortable, most confident, and most secure if I am close by. There is just something about Daddy being near.

They trust me and feel safe and secure when they are with me (or at least safer and more secure).

That’s how it is with God.

When we dwell with Him and on Him and allow ourselves to draw near to Him, we can rest in His shadow... rest with Him near because He is our refuge and our fortress... our hiding place and our protection and our defense. He is our God, in whom we trust.

To me, “In God We Trust” serves as a reminder of who He is and what He has done for me, my family... this country. It serves as a reminder that He has been our refuge and our fortress... our protector and our defender. He will continue to be so if we do not turn our back from Him but draw near to Him, dwell in Him, trust in Him... find rest in Him.

For me, trusting in God makes me feel safe and secure knowing He is with me… knowing His character… knowing His promises… knowing His history… knowing Him, the only true God.

Amen...

Keep the Faith... Carpe Diem.
