Ordinary Day
And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
- Luke 2:8-14 ESV
Today is Wednesday. A day much like any other day.
Today is Wednesday. A day with its own set of stressors, frustrations, disappointments. A day with its own set of positives, laughter, happy moments.
Today is Wednesday. The day after Tuesday. And this week, the Wednesday before Christmas.
Today is the Wednesday before we celebrate the birth of the Child born to be Savior of the World. The Child who became a man, but not any ordinary man. A man that lived a holy, sinless life. A man that is Son of God and Son of man. A man who lived and died and lived again so that we might have life, might be forgiven, might one day be with Him in heaven. A Child like no other child who grew to be a man like no other man. Jesus, the One who saves His people from their sin. Emmanuel, God with us.
Today is Wednesday. Praise Wednesday. A day of the week where we stop for a moment and Praise God, from whom all blessings flow. A day where we purposely praise Him for who He is, for what He has done, for what He is yet to do.
On this Praise Wednesday, stop for a moment and remember all that He has done for you. Think back on the many answered prayers. Those moments He held you as you stood. Stood by you as you stood alone. Held you in your fear. Celebrated with you as you danced upon the mountain top. Wiped your tears away when you wept. Laughed with you when you laughed.
Today is Wednesday... not your ordinary day after all.
Keep the Faith... Carpe Diem
